Imitation Flower Office Art

Ever since I got my own office in March, I've been trying to think of some fun office art. After months of brainstorming (I still want to make some melted crayon art), I finally found something I could tackle in one easy sitting. I found this pin on Pinterest. It just led here (I learned it's called "Stand Tall"). There wasn't a tutorial or anything - I just decided to wing it. It looked easy enough to imitate. Here is what I came up with:

To make the same, you'll need:
-canvas
-paint brush, sponge brush
-2 paint colors (I used Martha Stewart Metallics in Brushed Pewter and Americana in Dioxazine Purple)
-puff paint/glitter glue - I used white, silver, and black

I painted the canvas all over in the pewter.

Then I sponged on the purple. Paying close attention to the original, I drew the loops for the flowers in white. I started by making four and then added some more on. Then I drew lines down and leaves in silver and outlined them in black. Once it was all dry, I went over the silver again and the white twice to make sure it had the extra 3-D effect.

That's all! It's now hanging in my office and I've been getting lots of compliments on it. I just love being able to say "I made that" when someone likes my painting. I may not be the creative genius behind this but I think I did a pretty good job. Here's a close up of the flowers. The picture above has a flash and the picture below doesn't. The shininess is a mixture of the two.
