My New Quilt

I wish I could quilt. Is that the technical term? Is there an act of quilting? I mean, I'm not sure if I want to actually learn how to quilt but I wish I could just do it! Luckily for me, my aunt Mary is amazing at it! I can't even wrap my head around how talented she is! She makes it look so easy!

Aunt Mary has been making her way around the family. It's taken her a few years to get to me but hey, we have a large family. My mom got a lap quilt a few years ago that we've been fighting over. Fight no more, though. I get my own now! I'm definitely not sharing!

Sometime last year, she asked me if I wanted one. How could I say no? I chose some fabrics from a whole bunch that she sent me and I sent her a picture of some star quilts that I had seen and fallen in love with, curious if she could make something similar. Let me just say, she didn't disappoint. Here it is:

Isn't it amazing?

Here is a close up of the design:

Here is a close up of the beautiful blue fabric. She used a lot, if not all, of the fabrics that I sent her. All the different fabrics have stars or snowflakes on them which I absolutely adore.

I am so in love with this quilt. The good news is, Zeus likes it too :) He had already claimed a corner.

  1. Absolutely beautiful!! I love quilts too, but can't make them. It is such a beautiful thing to make!! When the rodeo comes to Houston every spring, my husband and I love to go to the quilt show and see all the quilt entries and the winners. Truly talented people that make them. Love the colors you chose and the pattern. Your aunt did an amazing job!!

  2. I have an unfinished quilt in my closet. Going on ten years since I started it.
(Quilt is a verb meaning to to do the actual sewing-the-layers-together bit, and often used to describe the whole sewing process.)

  3. Love it! I feel the same way about quilting - I would love to know how but don't really want to learn. Haha!
